Once you see how to market your box – you can’t unsee it
I recently had a client tell me she could now see why her offers and emails are converting… I told her that’s great news
Then she told me – “I looked at my competitors, some of whom are close to going out of business, and I can see why there’s AREN’T converting”
That was an interesting thought to me, and the first step towards full mastery of growing a subscription box business
Firstly you see competitors who appear to be doing well – so you do what they are doing
You may or may not see some success
Often times you don’t because you lack the skills to replicate exactly what they do in terms of design or optimisation
Or other times you lack the knowledge to set up the systems they use such as ad tracking, email automations and so on
So you either lack skills, or you lack knowledge… or both.
This is the root cause of all of your pain in your sub box business.
You don’t KNOW what you need to do in order to grow your box
When you try to learn, often you can’t effectively implement what you learn because you lack skills to make it look appealing
So here’s my advice on what path to follow to figure out your next move:
- Optimise your site to convert
You need:
- High res imagery
- Short concise copy
- Features, benefits, meanings
5 site sections:
- Hero image
- How it works
- What’s inside
- Social proof
- A guarantee
Get everything here in place and then move on to the next step

DON’T skip this part
- Set up an email marketing system
This consists of 3 parts:
- Email Capture
- Automated Sales Emails
- Broadcasts
To execute:
- Use Formify (www.getformify.com) to capture email addresses
- Set up a 4 email abandoned sequence
- Email your list sales emails 2-3 times per week
Final step
- Drive Traffic via Ads
Social platforms have killed organic engagement
You need some level of scale to succeed – that requires you to pay for ads
Here’s how to run ads
- Spy on competitors on FB ad library
- Create ads similar to theirs
- Run them with low budget for 3-4 days
- Kill the losers, replicate the winners
- Repeat
Now if this sounds like a ton of work – it is
If it also sounds very simplistic – it’s actually not that hard to do this as long as you FOCUS your efforts on what works to grow your box and TOSS the test of the crap you do every day.
Then you arrive at the client’s situation…
She finally got it
And could see why it was not only working for her, but NOT working for other sub boxes
I can assume that was an eye-opening experience for her
She’s now looking to go part time in her job and eventually quit to pursue her sub box full time in 2023.
