Ever feel like you’re running around in circles with your Subscription business?
This can be a short-term thing where eventually you get some clarity and you’re off to the races.
Much more common though is this can go on for years…
You’re struggling to make progress and you don’t know why
You’re showing up ✅
You’re working hard ✅
You’re putting in the work ✅
Why isn’t the growth coming along with it? ❌
I hear you.
I suffered through this phase for years with my sub-box business too
From 2017 – 2020 we struggled to consistently get any traction with our box (even after appearing on TV with it)
I’m here today to give you a push in the right direction
It all starts with your website
If all of your traffic MUST go to your site to purchase
Then isn’t that the perfect place to make your box look and sound unbelievable?
OK you’re convinced, if you have been following me for a while you may have even tried it
But you may have made one of these mistakes, so let’s correct them together

The 5 most common mistakes founders make when trying to grow their subscription business [Website edition]
- Not Optimising your site to convert
Before you do anything else – you need to do this step correctly
Don’t spend your precious time and money on driving traffic to a website that doesn’t convert
- Not using high-quality imagery
Your product shots and assets must be high quality in order to appear valuable to your site visitors. If you owned a shop, would you have dirty windows with old crummy stock in them?
It’s the same deal online. The #1 place a customer will make a decision to buy is on your website. Does it do your product justice?
- Not talking about Benefits over Features
A common error (which I am guilty of committing myself sometimes) is to focus too much on the features of your product. People don’t buy a product, they buy a result.
Always remember to tie the features of your product to the benefit the customer receives:
Free delivery – Convenience
Guarantee – Peace of mind
Customer service – Come-back if any issues arise
- Not using Short, Concise copy
Don’t go overboard with text.
Long paragraphs and 20 bullet points are time-consuming to read and lead to potential customers losing interest.
Replace long lines of text with some images that explain it better
Images can be processed in a fraction of a second – so a picture with some labels will outperform long lines of text
- Not creating an Unbelievable Offer
The #1 factor which will determine whether someone will sign up to your subscription or not will be your offer
In order to convince someone to give you money every month it’s important to make your offer as good as it gets
Free gift, discount, free VIP package, free onboarding call
When you find your unbelievable offer, you’ll sign up more people in a week than you used to get in a month
My advice is to as aggressive as you can until you find what works, then work backwards from there to balance growth with profitability.
BONUS: Not Tracking your conversion rate is another mistake that’s all too common. What gets measured gets improved, ensure you have accurate tracking of your website conversion rate to test if the tweaks you make are improving it.
Final word
When you get this right, it is literally the BIGGEST thing you can do to get more sales starting today.
We used to struggle to even track our conversion rate. When we finally got our Google Analytics set up, it was like a day of celebration (GA is a tough nut to get set up correctly).
If you think about it, with a better conversion rate, you can get more sales from the traffic you already get. Meaning it SHOULD be the first priority on your list every day – but it rarely is.
Having worked with over a hundred founders at this stage, most people’s to-do list involves emails, posting on social media, fulfilment, customer service etc.
Marketing struggles to even make the list, let alone CRO.
Let today be your signal to give Conversion Rate Optimisation a try.
There’s no reason why you can’t grow your sub box to thousands of subscribers, even though you think there are a million reasons
Trust me, you’re only a few good decisions away from being on the path to ultimate success
